Having Kelly act as a perceptive "sounding board" for my plans helped me get much more real about what I was most excited about. Kelly's "next steps" focus kept me on track with where I was headed, and helped me winnow out the distractions and barriers. In a few short months, I've aggressively focused on the new career path of mediation.
It was a pleasure working with Kelly during my career transition! She did an excellent job! Throughout the time that I talked with her, she provided clear, specific, positive suggestions. Kelly put a fresh spin on possibilities, and encouraged and challenged me very effectively. She conveyed a genuine interest in my personal and professional goals, easily sharing her expertise to help me refine job searching skills. Her feedback about my STARS and power greetings was right on the money! She also shared helpful information about developing my search plan and utilizing job research techniques. I sincerely appreciated Kelly's guidance and reassurance through what could have been a very difficult time in my life. With her extensive recruiting knowledge and wisdom about people, she communicated messages with just the right tone. This is not an easy task, and she has mastered the skills and understanding necessary to help others going through career changes. Thank you for helping me so much! Best wishes as you continue to guide other people through transitional times to great outcomes!
I appreciated all the help, coaching and direction provided by Kelly, my coach. Especially after the first rejection, she kicked me right back in the field to play and that was just what I needed. The ongoing conversations were so useful, for example when we talked about the different type of management styles. Given how much interviewing I did, 2 things were critical and totally prepared me to handle any interview question; 1) when Kelly did a mock interview with me. The probing questions were so helpful - she was very adept at working through this with me and kindly critiquing my answers. 2) STAR stories. At first I thought the development of STAR stories was corny, but in the end they made a difference. Overall Kelly did an outstanding job. If I had not worked with her, I would not be starting a new job, continuing my Regulatory Safety career, but in a new industry. This was exactly my goal and at age 51, this is an awesome opportunity!
Kelly encouraged me to stay positive throughout my job search. I appreciated her positive energy. She coached me through utilizing tools to do my research and networking effectively. She helped me become very proficient at interviewing. I landed a great job. Throughout the process, I always felt that I could contact her at any time; she was available for me, very open and great at communication.
Kelly was very diligent in keeping me on track with my job search. I appreciated working with her on the evaluation process about what was most important to me in my next job. This process of prioritizing was so useful - this is something I might not have done on my own and it really helped. Also working through negotiation discussions with Kelly were valuable to me. In the end I found a great job and I appreciate all the help I received.
Right before a big interview, I called Kelly and she helped me with interviewing tips and techniques. We then ran through a rehearsal role play of a live interview which helped me a lot. Kelly asked me tough questions and then gave me suggestions and insights on how to improve my answers. This was very beneficial and I got the job!
I found coaching to be the critical factor in my successful job search and transition. Working with Kelly gave me the focus and direction which was exactly what I needed after the shock of leaving my last company. In addition, I gained a lot of confidence by using my coach as a sounding board, as a safe place to ask questions and practice interviewing. Kelly's questioning and challenges helped me know how I wanted to handle the salary situation and my closing for a critical interview and how to think on my feet. I was much more confident in my responses. Overall, Kelly was 'to the NEXT LEVEL' helpful!
Kelly helped me to discover my next career path in real estate. She helped me prepare for my career, complete my resume and get organized. I especially liked how Kelly helped me to set goals. We didn't have to do much of that at my last job and at this point in my life, it really helped. I was able to set my goal and then shoot for it!
Talking with Kelly was very valuable. It was great how she continuously asked questions. I wrote down lots of notes each time we talked so I could go back and refer to them. It was great how through talking with Kelly, I was able to narrow down exactly what I wanted from my next job. She also helped me listen to my 'gut' about what I wanted to do next. I was able to whittle all my choices of next jobs down to my real interest which was so helpful.
I was very pleased with the whole career transition process. It was a pleasant experience and it lead me to a great job. My coach, Kelly, and I worked through how to present myself in an interview and not let the employer do all the talking. It was nice to know what to say in the interview. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
It was great to work with Kelly. Her coaching, direction and new ideas were the most valuable to me. Since I haven't done this for 30 years, I had no clue of where to start other than I knew I needed a resume. Kelly's insight helped me realize that finding a job isn't just going to happen, I need to work at it, and here are the things I need to do. I appreciated her ideas about where to go and what to do for a job search.
I feel confident now that, no matter how scary it is, or what doldrums I hit, I have what it takes to land safely and gloriously I credit Kelly with helping me create both the net and the wings. She also helped me set up structure in my life She became a touch point for me, someone for me to answer to regularly, someone to keep me on track. But mostly Kelly listens. I teach people how to listen to each other deeply and Kelly is the best darned listener I have ever experienced.
My husband's relocation across the country required a major shift in my career. I rather suddenly needed advice about how to maximize this transition for my own career. Kelly tailored our coaching sessions to meet my unique needs. I had a very specific situation in that I was developing a private practice in a new city, and she was creative in helping me. We brainstormed ideas and used resources in unique ways, to develop a plan for opening my business. With Kelly's help, I was well on my way to opening my new business within 3 months. She helped me develop a business plan, create marketing strategies, deal with proprietary issues, and design and produce a great brochure I have already begun to get referrals from several sources, and I am in the process of signing a contract with a major client.
I had begun coaching at the urging of my friends who wished me to succeed at my business. They felt that since I had put so much effort into the business and was at the time very close to the end of my efforts, that I should explore this avenue so that I wouldn't be blocked by whatever I might not be seeing. The main thing that happened in coaching for my business was that I was able to unlink some tight connections I had about my personal needs being dependant on the success of my business. It was a combination of looking at business goals and then weighing my personal needs and how well I met my personal needs. In the end, I have developed a healthy level of self-esteem. I know it because I now enjoy rather than struggle with life.
Kelly assisted me in defining my strengths and goals and examining those options that I had to get back in control of my life. Because of my work with Kelly I have been able to settle my estates, sell the home that had so many memories of illness, buy and remodel a new home, become a consultant, develop a new relationship and settle into a comfort zone in my life where I can enjoy my friends, recognize the support that I have, and live a fulfilling productive life. I am grateful for her careful listening, constructive presentation of alternatives and non-judgmental coaching. I recommend Kelly to anyone who is at a crossroads in their life and want practical useful help in choosing the path that is best for them.
It was very valuable knowing that my coach, Kelly, would be calling on a regular basis. This gave me the motivation and a nice push in the right direction. If I hadn't had Kelly, I wouldn't have done as much thinking about what my ideal retirement would be like. I wouldn't have started thinking about different things I could be doing and I would have been more lax. I appreciated the ideas, places to look and different suggestions that Kelly had about things to do in my retirement given my interests.
I was coming to a crossroad in my life, medically, professionally, and personally, and knew that having a guide would aide me in my decision-making. And I knew I wanted to work with a really bright woman who could hold her own with me. Kelly and I worked through the big decisions which were based on many little decisions. Before I knew it, we had made it through the major crossroad. I feel very comfortable with my decisions, so I don't spend time in second-guessing myself or the course that I've chosen. That has been very freeing. I knew this round of work was done when I ran out of big life questions - I just knew where I was heading and what I needed to do. It didn't take as long as I thought it would (Kelly is a terrific listener and guide), and we had a lot of laughs and fun along the way. Working with Kelly really is a joy.
The encouragement Kelly gave me was so helpful in my transition to retirement. She partnered with me through the beginning of retirement, giving me ideas and keeping me focused. Kelly did not let me get stagnant and her calling me every so often kept me going. I am now well on my way to having a part time small appliance repair license which will be fun to do in my spare time, with all my other retirement activities. Thanks for everything.
Your guidance and suggestions have obviously made the difference in landing this job. With this job and my pension I will be making more that I did at my last job. Thanks again for your great effort!!! You couldn't improve on anything, you did an outstanding job. The most valuable part was the personalized service that I got from you, helping me get ready to interview. When I first started interviewing I 'sucked', but with your help, it is now easy.
I really feel lucky to have had you as my coach. I thought you were very helpful and there would have been a big void if I hadn't had your retirement services. It really helped me to successfully change into retirement. When I first retired, it was weird and I was still adjusting. At first I had anxieties about not working and the cost of living and having no schedule, but it feels better now. Together, we did things I would not have thought to do on my own. The exercises we did were helpful, especially working through the pie chart of my life. This really showed me where I was spending my time and how it was different from how I wanted to spend my time. This shifted my thinking because time is so precious. I now have a balance of things to look forward to including volunteering and friends and am getting myself into a very comfortable routine. Thank you!
My coach, Kelly, taught me new things in every area of the job search process from networking to rehearsing interviews to the resume (which I couldn't have done myself, even though I thought I could) to how to introduce myself. The information on salary negotiation was critical. If it wasn't for her I would have lost up to $30K in my salary. Overall this was very worthwhile. I also appreciated how Kelly didn't push about all the job search tasks and homework. She understood how stressful moving and relocation can be. She cared about how I was first and then about the jobs. She let me do the job search at my own pace. Thank you for everything.
I started working with Kelly after moving to New Jersey from Ohio. Kelly was a real pleasure to work with. She has been extremely responsive to my questions and has offered excellent ideas geared towards my job search. Kelly made an effort to understand my background and helped me to craft my career goals—in fact, I understood what I wanted to achieve much better after talking with her. Most importantly, she has helped me to craft a valuable road map for attaining my professional aspirations. It has been some time since I have been in the "job market" so the guidance she offered as well as the confidence that she helped me to build was invaluable. Thanks Kelly!
The most helpful part of the program was when my coach, Kelly, suggested that I needed to set a game plan for retirement. That was important. It was a good idea and that is what we did. I have started to implement it and now I just have to see it through.
I knew it was time for me to get serious about my massage business rather than just talking about it and playing at it. I knew there were many avenues to venture down that would get me somewhere, but I had no real direction, no formal business plan, just the one in my head, and felt a bit overwhelmed. As my coach, you worked with me to break it down into "baby steps" so it was never scary. And before I knew it, I was doing it. I realized towards the end of our time together that I had great fear in the beginning, but I didn't know it. I know what really shifted everything for me was working through my fears with you. Now I have measurable goals such as 100 new clients by the end of this year. And I still have my long term goal of moving my home office out of our home and expanding to a healing center. I absolutely know that our work was successful by the responses I am getting not just from clients, but from all folks who see my brochure. It turned out even better than I could have imagined! I also feel that I have shifted to the seriousness of what I am doing, rather than the playing at it and feel myself as really a "self employed entrepreneur". I am also dreaming bigger dreams and feel excited about what I am doing rather than fearful. I cannot thank you enough for all your thoughts, questions, homework assignments and positive feedback. You were a joy to work with and I looked forward to our "meetings". You always amazed me with your vast knowledge of resources and the questions that you asked to really focus at the heart of each matter.
I am a coaching convert! When my dear childhood friend Kelly began to get into this life coaching stuff, I must admit that I was pretty hesitant. Then when my Dad died and Kelly called to extend her sympathies, she began to help me through the grieving process. Through that, we talked more about my writing and Kelly offered to coach me through my book writing project. I gladly accepted as I had been dancing around the edges of being serious about writing as a career for years. What happened next truly surprised me! Thanks to Kelly's help to identify my vision and goals, I was able to get really focused on my writing and my thinking turned an important corner: No longer do I talk in terms of what I'm going to do if my writing doesn't work out. My writing is working out and will continue to do so! I have sold more articles in the last few months than I have in the last few years. Furthermore, I have connected my writing with my vision of being an educational entrepreneur as well. Simply put: Coach Kelly converted me and I couldn't be happier!
Kelly Cooper-Slayton helped me tremendously during the first two years of my business. She helped me manage an overwhelming list of tasks, find time to take care of myself and my family, and stay focused on the most important things during this busy and challenging time.
I began working with Kelly as part of the SAGE Scholar program. I was starting my first semester at Cal and knew that some good planning would help me adjust. Also, I needed to make sure I headed towards goals that would move me toward my vision for my future. With Kelly’s help, I refined my planning methods, improved my study methods, and improved my discipline regarding financial management. The end result of our coaching is that I am well adjusted to school--I know how to plan effectively without overplanning, and I have a schedule that works for me. I am excited at, rather than dismayed by, the prospect of managing my money on a regular basis. I experience financial management as an enjoyable opportunity to create order and success in my life, rather than as a trial to be endured.
